About The Statton Gallery Suites

Your Place to Stay for Vacation Getaways in Eureka Springs

Judy and Jom did not find 137 Spring Street – it found us. In the fall of 2017, we decided to take an afternoon and do what many tourists do and visit as many springs in Eureka Springs as we could. Of course, we started on upper “Spring Street” and parked in a paid parking lot by the Eureka Springs Post Office to start our own walking tour. As we turned off our vehicle, and then turned it back on to straighten out our parking, we noticed that our vehicle had died and we were stuck! We decided to seek out springs and do some shopping before dealing with the car issue. We started at Sweet Spring, half a block from the Post Office, and continued to walk another few blocks down Upper Spring Street, to Harding Spring. Our love for art (and Judy’s love of shopping!) took us to a retail shop across from Harding Spring where we met the owners of Gryphon’s Roost.

For 26 years, 137 Spring was called “Gryphon’s Roost.” Gryphon’s Roost was an art-themed day spa and an art gallery with a great vibe and a California twist. Little did we know that the mishap of our car not starting would result in a new and exciting journey! We returned to Eureka Springs in November 2017 and decided to visit our favorite retail shop, gallery and spa once again, at 137 Spring Street, and discovered that there was a “For Sale” sign in the window. The owners wanted to retire, and Jom and Judy’s vision of a new adventure (and project) kicked in.

We purchased the 3-level 1929 building and property at 137 Spring Street in November 2017, and our vision for what the building would become started to unfold. Jom Statton, one of the building owners and an Interior Designer, remodeled the retail space and we opened the “Statton Gallery” in May of 2018. We converted the entire street-level retail space into an art gallery.

In October of 2020, we opened the Nola Suite after redesigning and converting the 2nd level of the building into an overnight rental. New Orleans has always been one of Judy & Jom’s fun places to visit, and it was fitting that we would bring a piece of the “Big Easy” in our own style to 137 Spring. This suite consists of mostly original paintings from New Orleans scenes painted by local artists, and New Orleans artists.

Exhausted, Judy said “Never again!” We then visited a friend living in Palm Springs at the time and stayed at “The Willows Historic Palm Springs Inn” in downtown Palm Springs. Our suite was called the “Rock Room,” with a bathroom complete with a large boulder. It was unique and beautiful! The idea of building around the rock formations at the base of 137 Spring was born, and Jom started measuring and creating drawings for the build-out. The Napa Suite (another one of our favorite places to visit) opened as an overnight rental in August of 2023.

With many changes in the economy post-Covid, and after 6 years of having The Statton Gallery at 137 Spring, we decided that it was time to convert the gallery space into The Eureka Springs Gallery Suites. Since opening the NOLA in 2020, we learned that many of our guests love art, love Eureka Springs and appreciate being able to “experience” an art-themed luxury suite. Many guests are artists themselves, and found that here they can be pampered, relax, enjoy the town, and spend a couple of days experiencing art. It’s an extension of a long trip through an art gallery. The Eureka Springs Gallery Suites is filled with original paintings of scenes of Eureka Springs and artwork created by local artists.

A charming single-story building with large windows, a black awning, and colorful flower pots, surrounded by lush greenery.

Each suite has been designed with the intention of stimulating your senses. The design, attention to detail, and the amenities provide the backdrop for rest, peacefulness, and the desire to retreat, recharge, and enjoy your time away from life’s hustle and bustle.

We have kept the original art theme. Our guests of the suites have the opportunity to purchase the art that is displayed in each suite. Soon, “The Statton Gallery” will be an online art gallery offering art to everyone, not just our guests.

We were so captivated by the beauty and peacefulness of the space in 2017 when it was Gryphon’s Roost, that we feel that The Statton Gallery Suites were created and meant to have the continued theme of our previous owner’s, Gryphon’s Roost -- an amazing art opportunity and the relaxation of a spa retreat.
